[edit] Biography

Zero Times Infinity is an experimental industrial music and performance art project from the Boston area. Although founded in early industrial and noise, numerous ZTI performances have experimented with improvisational rhythmic noise and powernoise.

  • In 1995 Deftly-D began work with Ennui (a.k.a. Rick Destephano) on his first music project, Zero Times Infinity. The project was a true experiemntal band, attempting to avoid all of the member's influences and traditional instrumentation to see what would come out. The tape release, Insomnolence, was released that same year featuring microcasset tape scratches from Hex (a.k.a. Chris Castiglione). Intensive recording sessions and studio experiments on a non-existent budget continued. Ethan E. Eves and a friend who went only by the name Cheesehole joined the band while simultaneously forming their own project, Digital Apocalypse.
  • On August 30th 1996, Deftly, Chris, Rick, Ethan and Cheesehole performed for the first time as Zero Times Infinity on the airwaves of WJUL for a small studio audience. The performance incorporated a home built tape delay system, walkie talkies, and a room full of miscilaneous junk. Audience members compared it to Einsturzende Neubauten, Nurse With Wound, SPK and Iannis Xenakis.
  • On January 3rd 1997, Zero Times Infinity performed for the first time on stage at The Rat in Boston's Kenmore Sqr. This was the opening performance for Mentallo and The Fixer, Crocodile Shop and Battery Cage. Again comparisons to the same acts and others where given by audience members and Zero Times Infinity began playing regular shows. Since that date Zero Times Infinity have conducted over 65 unique performance experiments and produced numerous recordings.
