Replogen is an experimental harsh noise, power electronics project from New York. Conceived in 1999, REPLOGEN has since been the solo creative output of Chris Nixon. In this time, REPLOGEN has released several CD-R promo and demo releases in the local NY scene, as well as a net-release EP, titled "Manipulator", released through Decisive Sound records, the netlabel of Re:Automation radio.
This EP serves as a taste of things to come. Chris is currently hard at work on a 3" that will hopefully see the light of day soon, released via N3 Records, a subsidiary of NCC Records, home of such artists as Navicon Torture Technologies, F/I/T/H, and meson.
Also seeing the light of day soon is "We are the Last Tribe", a collection of remixes of the REPLOGEN Track "the Last Tribe". Featured remixers include: exhuma, Endif, Navicon Torture Technologies, Sleep Clinic, viral Consciousness, Mashup Soundsystem, Caustic, and several others. A complete tracklisting will be available soon, as well as download information for this Creative Commons-licensed free release.
REPLOGEN tracks vary across the spectrum. Each recording is a bit of an experiment, and the same concept is rarely visited upon twice. Recording methods also vary from point to point and track to track, giving the project a dynamic, evolving sound, that is hard to lump into one single genre, though individual tracks may lean more heavily towards one specific genre or the other.
