[edit] Biography

Nau-Zee-auN is an industrial music and performance art project based in Boston, MA. The current Nau-Zee-auN sound is a blend of powernoise, old experimental industrial from the early 80's, late 80's hip hop, digital hardcore, and dub among other influences. The live performances incorporate energetic destructive performance art, polyrhythmic percussion on found objects and drum triggers coupled with live remixing.

Nau-Zee-auN was started in 1995, as a solo project of Deftly-D while working on the experimental industrial project Zero Times Infinity. Where Zero Times Infinity was focussed on pure experimental work, Nau-Zee-auN began as a place to explore other ideas including rhythmic and relatively traditional song structures. The tongue in cheek songs "Pierced Goats Dance" and "Wheel Of Torture" where both released by the now defunct tape label Third Wheel Media on a long out of print sampler cassette.

In 1998 Nau-Zee-auN performed live for the first time per the request of Zipperspy's Maria Moran. The experimental noise show incorporated turntablism, rhythmic noise elements and powertools. The last pure experimental noise set under the name Nau-Zee-auN would take place in San Francisco in 2000.

In 1999 Nau-Zee-auN made it's first cameo appearance as a powertool spark shooting collaborator with the band Livesexact. This would lead to similar collaborations with numerous bands including Terrorfakt, Pneumatic Detach, Tragedie Ann, Guava Cheese, Skincrime, Zipperspy, and Massdirge.

In 2000 Nau-Zee-auN performed the first rhythmic noise and beat driven industrial set at an invite only performance in WJUL's studios. This was the beginning of the current Nau-Zee-auN sound. The first club performance was latter that year at the AS220 in Providence, Rhode Island. Nau-Zee-auN's first remix work appeared on the now out of print Zero Times Infinity release 'Folded Time 3: Origami Clock' on Voidstar Productions. Nau-Zee-auN's first rhythmic noise track, 'Any Key', was released on the RRRecords/Sound42k compilation 'Voix'.

In 2002 Nau-Zee-auN began making appearances on numerous compilations and remix discs including a remix of Merzbow's 'Amlux' on Ikebana (Important Records), and a live appearance jamming with Genesis P-Orridge during HellLab3 in Times Square, New York City.

In 2003 remixes are released for Pneumatic Detach and Ukuphambana.

In 2007 Nau-Zee-auN is scheduled to perform one of the first video sampling based powernoise sets on June 1st at the Skybar in Somerville, Massachusetts. Work is underway on a full length release as well as a split 7" with Asche.
